Wedding Plans
Allison and I are still talking about plans for our wedding. We'd like everyone to know that we are as in love as ever and that our lack of plans should not be taken as a bad sign. The problems we are up against are 1) We are from two different cities and met in a third and so all are viable options for a location, 2) We love to travel and really call no where "home" at the moment, which makes planning a wedding difficult, and 3) We do not consider ourselves to be of any particular religion, so marriage in our situation is more of a personal ceremony we want to share with those close to us (If anyone knows someone certified to marry us please respond with names and numbers). A fourth issue is that we are pretty uncomfortable with the pressure to have a big, expensive wedding. So, we still need to figure some things out so that our day can be something that reflects the values and beliefs we want to be a part of our life together. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support. We love you all!

The pics you posted of the Blueridge Mts. are gorgeous! I went to high school in Asheville, N.C. That area is amazing.
Congrats on your engagement! Try not to worry about the wedding. Remember to have fun. I regret having spent so much time and effort planning 1 day that was gone in the blink of an eye. My advice is to not sweat the wedding day and focus more on the honeymoon. You'll be happy you did later.
We did have a great wedding, though. My husband was raised Catholic and I was raised Jewish, but neither one of our families are particularly religious. Since my mom wanted to help plan the wedding, we had it in Bristol, TN, where my parents lived at the time.
A judge from my parents' synagogue married us in the Paramount Theatre on State Street. The judge was Catholic, and his wife was Jewish so he knew what we were going through. He let us write the entire ceremony. It was very personalized and spiritual. The ceremony was my favorite part. Plus, since we were married in a theatre, we could decorate the stage any way we wanted (churches often have restrictions). I love how it was totally personalized; it was truly our wedding.
Good luck with the planning! I'm sure it will be beautiful.
